DJ MURPHY: What motivates you to do music?
BLAKK RASTA; Well, I'll say first and foremost, the passion to spread the message, the passion to let the people hear the message. It's not everybody who want to listen to preaching , it's not everybody who want to hear you talk, some people are preached through music. And the love for music as well so all these things pushed me into music and am loving it.
DJ MURPHY; you came out with a song promoting Obama which was so popular internationally, but you could sing about cholera which has killed about 170 people in Ghana. Why Ebola?
BLAAK RASTA; Hahaha! well , Ebola is more like an international affair. What people have to remember is that, to make music you have to be inspired, Much as I may like to talk about cholera in my music, am not inspired yet. Music is not just music. You must get a melody, you must get a rhythm and have not had that inspiration yet. It's just like when I did a song for Obama, people asked why I never did a song for Kwame Nkrumah, the right inspiration did not come at the end of the day I had an inspiration to do a song for Kwame Nkrumah and I did. I had an inspiration to make a song for KENSARA WEERA which a lot of us did not know up till now. And at the end of the day, I had an inspiration to make a song for Gadaafi. So I normally wait for inspiration before I jump. When the inspiration to make a song about cholera comes, trust me my brother, I will jump into it.
Blakk Rasta added, the Ebola song took him along time to record.
BLAAK RASTA; Well, I'll say I started it in America when I had my big tour then I spoke with Darryl Raysly, he wanted to be part of it and then the moment I arrived I went into the studio then started recording it. Infact, this is one song which took me a long time to record. Normally when I start to record a song it took me a few days to record because I take my time to write it before I come out but this one took me a long time ,me and Zapp Mallet and I will say it has finally come out and I love the way people are responding both internationally and here. It's already flying big time. I will encourage you to play it more to let the people feel it more, somebody brought us Ebola, somebody created it and put it on us to kill us. America did that and we are not afraid to say that. We are Black people, we love each other we love ourselves. If somebody created a deadly disease like Ebola to kill us, we want them to know we know all their tricks and we put it in our music for prosperity to come and judge us all.
I'll say Storm Fm big ups. These days you are all over the place. Storm fm entertainment, news, articles and all that. I want to say big up and want to say keep on pushing Blakk Rasta and keep on pushing the Ebola tune. I say thank you so much for having me and big up Reagan. Blessed.
